Shiatsu is a deeply relaxing holistic therapy that originates from Japan. The principles of shiatsu are rooted in the traditions of Oriental medicine, using the same energy channels and pressure points as acupuncture. However, in shiatsu the practitioner uses hands rather than needles.

Shiatsu can help with a wide range of physical and emotional conditions.

During the treatment the practitioner works on the whole body using a variety of techniques including acupressure, joint rotations, stretching and muscle releasing techniques. The practitioner connects with the Ki [energy], releasing blockages and encouraging it to flow smoothly, encouraging the body’s own innate ability to heal and rebalance itself.

As shiatsu works with the whole body, it can address the underlying causes of discomfort, as well as the symptoms.

Treatment is tailored specifically to each client’s symptoms and needs.

The client remains fully clothed, so it is best to wear loose comfortable clothing and socks.
